Postdoctoral Researcher 2015–2017
Joined Fall 2015Now: Associate Professor, Department of Energy and Power Engineering, Tsinghua University
- Ph.D., Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics, Tsinghua University, 2013
- B.E., Thermal and Power Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, 2008
Chao joined the lab in August 2015 as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and stayed until August 2017. His research focused on two areas. The first was diagnosis, prognosis, and health monitoring, including feature extraction and selection, fault identification, and remaining useful life prediction using physical and statistical models. The second was structural dynamics, including the dynamics of structures and rotor systems, finite element methods for the dynamics of cracked rotor systems, and experimental studies of rotor systems.
He is now an Associate Professor in the Department of Energy and Power Engineering at Tsinghua University, a rank he has held since December 2022.
Research interests: Rotating machinery dynamics, structural health monitoring, fault diagnosis and prognosis, finite element analysis, machine learning
